What can I expect?

Dr. Towfigh and her team have conducted new research related to women and hernias, and she is excited to share these findings and the clinical insights she has gained. ⁣

  • How prevalent are hernias in women? What types?⁣
  • ⁣What symptoms are we looking for and are they different in cis men vs cis women? ⁣
  • ⁣What are the symptoms of inguinal vs femoral hernia?⁣
  • ⁣When is a hernia an emergent issue?⁣
  • ⁣What imaging can be done?⁣
  • ⁣Can clinicians test for femoral and/or inguinal hernias in office? ⁣

Dr. Shirin Towfigh, a world-renowned hernia specialist at the Beverly Hills Hernia Center is dedicated to raising awareness about a troubling reality: women are often overlooked when it comes to diagnosing hernias, including both inguinal and femoral types. ⁣

This oversight is particularly concerning with femoral hernias, which can require urgent attention. Hernias are frequently and mistakenly seen as a predominantly male condition, leading to the under diagnosis and neglect of femoral hernia symptoms in women. Dr. Towfigh has treated many female patients who endured prolonged pain and consulted multiple doctors, only to have the possibility of hernia repair surgery overlooked.⁣

Dr. Towfigh has been at the forefront of bringing this issue to light, emphasizing how non-specialist physicians often fail to recognize femoral hernia symptoms in women. Dr. Towfigh regularly helps women who endured long periods of suffering and multiple misdiagnoses.⁣
