What can I expect?

We are talking all about running, particularly in the postpartum period. Some discussion topics include:
  • The latest research and best practices to help those with underactive pelvic floors who may be experiencing leaking and prolapse.
  • What can pelvic health professionals and fitness professionals do to optimize a running program?
  • How can the runners best communicate with their physicians and other healthcare professionals about running?
  • Levator ani tears and running... (I’m sneaking this question in ).
  • Can vaginal weights help? What about pessaries?
Feel comfortable navigating psychosocial nuances while learning practical skills to do so.

My doctoral research titled “A Postural Perturbation Study on Children with Down Syndrome” was presented as a platform at the American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Meeting (CSM) in 2009, and I had the opportunity to teach clinical skills to medical staff and physical therapists in Nicaragua in 2008.
I have taken extensive coursework in treatment of the pelvic floor and nutrition resulting in CAPP-PF certification by the APTA, and PRPC by the Herman and Wallace Institute. I am also certified as a Stott Pilates instructor and an RRCA Certified Running coach. I am the author of the book Restoring the Pelvic Floor For Women on pelvic floor dysfunction.
