What can I expect?

The course is an in-depth exploration of the practical sexual topics such as:
● Lubricant Selection (and differentiation from moisturizers and hormone creams)
● Toy Types and Therapeutic applications
● Harnesses and strap-ons: considerations and ergonomics
● Kink and power dynamics and the application to developing a treatment plan

Discussions about why these topics can be challenging for both providers and patients to talk about, include:
● Discussion of sexual shame components
● What that looks like from the clinician's perspective
● What that looks like from the patient's perspective
● Tools to overcome those barriers in order to have all of the above as part of a comfortable conversation and get the full picture of who a patient is and what their real goals are for pelvic health.
● Practical skills for getting more comfortable with talking comfortably with patients and creating a judgment-free space for their healing
Feel comfortable navigating psychosocial nuances while learning practical skills to do so.

Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to list 2 sources of sexual shame that might limit their ability to effectively counsel patients with sexual health concerns.
