A Holistic Approach to GI Health
This course is open to physiotherapists, occupational therapists, naturopathic doctors, nurses, midwives and medical doctors. Experience and training in hands-on pelvic floor treatment – vaginal or rectal are recommended.
A comprehensive approach to gastrointestinal disorders allows for the consideration and management of multiple factors including nutritional, psychosocial, medical-surgical decisions, and physical therapy and occupational therapy examination/intervention. A multifactorial approach can often lead to improved management, as varied intervention is often essential. A comprehensive understanding of the physiology and symptom manifestation can improve the ability to develop a comprehensive intervention strategy tailored to each patient’s needs throughout the episode of care.
Health Care providers that have completed this course are able to perform an evaluation of the musculoskeletal aspect of the GI system (including a focus on the lower GI region and abdomen), establish and create a treatment plan and it’s progression for GI dysfunction and movement impairments of the abdomen and pelvic region. The interventions will include manual therapy, movement/exercise, respiration, endocrine, cardiovascular - heart rate variability and balloon catheter techniques to reduce dysfunction. They also have a systematic approach for optimization of the GI system including digestive disorders, basic nutritional contributions, abdominal and pelvic floor dysfunction, and psychosocial/behavioral contributions.

What people are saying:
As a pelvic PT who is referred many patients with GI concerns this was an excellent course to go deeper into holistic evaluation and treatment for this population. An excellent balance between research and experience in practice. Susan Clinton made the material easy to understand and apply. She is a gifted educator!
This course was originally supposed to be in person, but Pelvic Guru did an excellent job adapting it to an online-hybrid platform. Would definitely recommend to other providers treating patients with GI and pain concerns!
The Ultimate Bowel class with Susan Clinton was full of clinical pearls so that even PTs with years of bowel work can take away something useful. Susan has a wonderful way of sharing her knowledge in a creative and interesting way that can be readily translated into clinical care. I highly recommend this class.

More accolades for the online Ultimate Bowel course:
The Bowel Course provided such useful information to take to the clinic the next day and make a real difference with my Women's Health patient population. I wish I had taken this course years ago.
Susan is a dynamic speaker and even online kept the material engaging. It was nice to actually do virtually without travel and being away from home. Content was referenced and reputable.
This course was excellent! I learned so much and you won’t be disappointed. So many aspects of learning about the GI. I feel so much more confident in treating this. Thank you Susan!
