"I had been following Brianna, pregnant.postpartum.athlete and other IG accounts for months throughout my pregnancy. When my son was born in January 2021, I was inspired to learn more to not only fuel my workouts properly (my motivation lacks because of frequent fears of 'doing it wrong') but to also incorporate this training into my profession as a physical therapist. I am so excited to say I have earned my certification and to know I am joining an amazing team of professionals.
Thank you so much for this opportunity to become a stronger, more well-rounded clinician! I look forward to continued access to available resources!"

What to Expect:

Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism is an introductory - intermediate online certification course that equips personal trainers, physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and other health practitioners to support pregnant and postpartum athletes. This certification helps coaches, medical practitioners, and physical & occupational therapists bridge the gap between rehab to athletic performance while taking core and pelvic health symptoms and athlete behavior and mindset into consideration. The course consists of 10 modules of content that educates students on how to understand the motivations of their clients, recognizing the client’s mental and physical needs before, during, and after pregnancy, as well as how to adjust treatment options to accommodate the changing needs of the athlete and allow them to participate in their social and leisure activities for their optimal quality of life and health.

This course teaches how to assess the patient/client, prioritizing a biosocial model of treatment. Students will learn how to use exercise progression and prescription of exercise according to their patient/client’s symptoms and needs during pregnancy and postpartum.

Additional material is also provided to support student learning (movement glossaries and demonstrations, interviews from experts in various health fields, and instructional guides on how to recognize common concerns from pregnant and postpartum athletes).

What people are saying about this course:

I’ve been focused on pre/postpartum for 14 years and this was the best course I’ve taken on it by far!
Solid gold for anyone who cares about women's LONGTERM health and performance.
Quality coaching and information based on science and experience. One of the best things I did to invest in myself this year was to take the coaches course, “Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism”. I highly recommend it for anyone who trains moms (of all ages).
Apply anatomy and neurophysiology to treat difficult cases.

What You Will Learn:

At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Recognize how fitness culture and “athlete brain” influence a client’s motivations, training goals, interests, and health.
  • Identify the anatomy and physiology of the core system, as well as common core and pelvic health considerations that pregnant and postpartum clients often experience.
  • Draw inferences on which of the “P&PA Players” (breath, pressure, tension, positioning, movement) to adjust to accommodate an athlete’s symptoms, tendencies, and athletic goals.
  • Select programming and exercise adjustments that would help athletes manage individualized symptoms and considerations in their training during seasons of pregnancy and postpartum.
  • Using the progressive overload methodology, organize programming in a way that would progress postpartum clients optimally back to their preferred form of exercise.
  • Identify examples of coaching that supports the whole athlete through their unique experiences and current season of life.

More reviews!

I took Brianna Battles’ “Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism” coaching course and was absolutely blown away. By far the best course I’ve ever taken. I’m beyond proud and grateful to be part of this family.
Thanks Brianna for organizing and delivering such an amazing course!! I want to watch some of the videos again for I had a lot of “AH-HA” moments from my own personal journey as I was going through the material.
Thank you for all of the knowledge, insight, and inspiration from P&PA! I was passionate about postpartum health/fitness prior to taking the course - but after finishing it, I’m even more fired up to serve as an advocate, educator, and trainer for women!
