What to Expect:
Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism is an introductory - intermediate online certification course that equips Personal Trainers, Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, and other health practitioners to support pregnant and postpartum athletes.
This certification helps coaches, Medical Practitioners, and Physical & Occupational Therapists bridge the gap between rehab to athletic performance while taking core and pelvic health symptoms and athlete behavior and mindset into consideration.
The course consists of 7 pillars of curriculum that educates students on how to understand the motivations of their clients, recognizing the client’s mental and physical needs before, during, and after pregnancy, as well as how to adjust treatment options to accommodate the changing needs of the athlete and allow them to participate in their social and leisure activities for their optimal quality of life and health.
This course teaches how to assess the patient/client, prioritizing a biosocial model of treatment. Students will learn how to use exercise progression and prescription of exercise according to their patient/client’s symptoms and needs during pregnancy and postpartum.
Additional material is also provided to support ongoing student learning (movement glossaries and demonstrations, interviews from experts in various health fields, a research library and instructional guides on how to recognize common concerns from pregnant and postpartum athletes).

“I love effort Bri has put in to make this course evidenced based and truly backed by literature. This course has lit a new fire and has renewed my passion in working with others--I can not wait to start implementing what I've learned in my practice as a Physical Therapist, and to begin my new journey of being a Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism Coach!”

“It totally transformed my practice and was the catalyst to me starting my own business. It lead me to pivot to focus solely on pre/ postnatal fitness and create a fully virtual practice. It gave me the confidence and knowledge I needed to work with this population and provide a niche that my area of town didn’t currently provide. Thank you Brianna Battles and P&PA!” - Rhonda C.

WHAT MAKES THE P&PA CERTIFICATION AND COACHES DIFFERENT?
This certification goes beyond maternal and fetal safety, and athletic ability. We address the psychological shifts female athletes experience during these seasons, along with the short- and long-term core and pelvic health considerations that influence quality of life and athletic performance.
Coaches learn to make strategic training adjustments that support a woman’s lifetime of athleticism - not just her current training circumstances.
Meet the instructor
Brianna Battles
I started the Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism in 2014, early postpartum with my first son. As a career strength and conditioning coach, it wasn’t until I became a mother that realized how much athletes like myself were overlooked and misunderstood in the fitness industry. I shifted my career path into specializing in coaching pregnant and postpartum athletes, and since then, it’s evolved into a globally recognized movement and brand that has certified over 5,000 coaches around the world.
My personal and business mission is that “athleticism does not end when motherhood begins.” I live this. I coach this. I teach how this is accomplished.
