- Trauma-informed principles of yoga and best-evidence care using Medical Therapeutic Yoga, plus

- How to determine root cause(s) of a condition in the context of Lifestyle Medicine using Biopsychosocial and Functional Movement Assessment(s).

- How to use pain science to get quicker and long-lasting results with patients and clients.
- How to expand your services to offer telehealth, group, and more extensive in-person wellness services.

- List the implications for use of MTY to impact health promotion and wellness practice.
- Identify quantitative and qualitative outcome measures to use in MTY.
- Practice & demonstrate understanding of the FMA algorithm in the context of Lifestyle Medicine evaluation, diagnosis, and prescription.
- Demonstrate multidisciplinary knowledge of indications and contraindications for using the FMA for prescriptive movement and/or manual therapy.
- Critically analyze physical yoga movement and respiratory therapies and their modifications in a lab setting.
- Complete case studies via real time assessment with peers using live model(s) to address complex medical histories and pain.
- Demonstrate knowledge of guidelines to practice, teaching, manual cuing, and instruction in yoga postures, breathing techniques, mindfulness and meditation practice.
- Integrate the biopsychosocial, lifestyle medicine driven Vector Analysis into practice in a lab setting.
- Describe the code of ethics for becoming a Lifestyle Medicine practitioner & certified Professional Yoga Therapist.
- Discuss research and legal implications for licensed versus unlicensed use of yoga in the United States.
- Practice MTY to address multi-joint and systemic stabilization in a lab setting.
- Practice safe polyvagal intervention in a lab setting.
- Critically analyze how myofascial and neurovascular impairment can be addressed through MTY.
- Demonstrate competence with use of yoga props and blanket folding.
- List the tenets of including meditation and postural practice sequences in clinical practice.
- Discuss business matrix analysis for health promotion, and both cash-based and insurance-based practice.
- Understand coding and billing practices for licensed providers.
- Pass a quiz to demonstrate competency with Level 1 principles.

Meet the instructor
Dr. Ginger Garner
PT, MPT, DPT, ATC-ret
Dr. Ginger Garner is a doctor of physical therapy (PT, MPT, DPT), board certified in Lifestyle Medicine (DipACLM) and retired athletic trainer (ATC-ret) with post-doctoral training in functional and integrative medicine including yoga and Pilates, visceral mobilization, dry needling, and rehabilitative ultrasound imaging. Ginger has spent 26 years teaching integrative and lifestyle medicine internationally, speaking at over 30 conferences worldwide. She is the author of multiple book chapters and 2 medical textbooks, Medical Therapeutic Yoga and Integrative and Lifestyle Medicine in Physical Therapy, from which she developed certifications for PT's and OT's in therapeutic yoga and lifestyle medicine.
Based in Greensboro, NC, Dr. Garner owns and operates Garner Pelvic Health and Living Well Institute, is the host of the Living Well Podcast, and is raising 3 sons. She is active in community service and holds leadership roles for American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Academy of Pelvic Health, APTA North Carolina, and American College of Lifestyle Medicine. Additionally, she is a mentor and thought leader in areas like voice to pelvic floor connection, rehab ultrasound imaging, and trauma-informed practice.
